UCL Computational Cancer Seminar Series
UCL’s Computational Cancer Collaboratorium draws together the extensive and diverse expertise in UCL in computational cancer, and to enhance and enable collaborative working in the area. Our new seminar series reflects this cross-disciplinary interest, bringing together leading speakers from across cancer and computational science. Students and staff from all faculties are welcome and encouraged to join.

Cancer Seminar Series UCL-GOS-ICH
The Cancer Seminar Series encompasses basic research, the study of disease mechanisms, and clinical and translational research relating to all types of Cancer, with a specific focus on paediatrics. The aim of this series is to cover diverse topics in the field of Cancer, promote discussion and stimulate collaborative opportunities and will include a range of both national and internationally leading speakers within their field. These meetings will be held on alternate Wednesdays from 3-4pm at the Institute of Child Health and in a hybrid format, where possible.

Public and Patient involvement and Engagement workshop
In this event there were Public Engagement talks including the Cancer Revolution exhibition with the designers and a science museum curator and a presentation from the Centre of the Cell. Afterwards two PPI representatives spoke about their journey to a career communicating science. This was followed by a session addressing PPI funding and training opportunities for developing PPIE in research projects. The second half of the day was focused on Patient Involvement, some great examples like Radiation Reveal, Proton Beam Therapy Centre and the Cancer Grant Challenge were showcased. To end the workshop, the South East London Consumer Research Panel for Cancer (SELCRP) PPI group shared their perspective

EDI Seminar
Eugene Manley – STEM outreach, Health Equity, and Minority Mentorship Programs in Lung Cancer
It took place on 29th March at 2pm
Dr. Eugene Manley Jr. an inspirational speaker; educator; advocate for underrepresented and underserved populations in the workforce, in STEM, and in clinical trials; and is a facilitator and connector that brings people/groups together.

Let’s Talk about … Seminar Series
CRUK Barts Centre has partnered with the CRUK Manchester Centre to facilitate a bi-monthly seminar series focusing on amplifying the voices, opinions and encountered challenges of often underrepresented groups in cancer research. This includes allowing a platform for speakers and panellists from these groups to discuss how they can improve opportunities and outcomes for these individuals, whether that be through working with colleagues and trainees within their Centres, and beyond; or through care for cancer patients who come from these backgrounds.

Centre of the Cell
Centre of the Cell is an informal biomedical science learning centre based at the Whitechapel Campus of Queen Mary University of London. It is the first science education centre in the world to be located within working biomedical research laboratories. Centre of the Cell seeks to have a positive impact on the educational, career and health choices of the children, young people and families they work with.
CRUK City of London scientists can work as volunteer science champions in science shows and workshops. Some Centre of the Cell activities feature cancer scientists and their research. Find out more here.
